Default Expansion valve replacement

I've had the HVAC case out of the car to replace the Evaporator and am in the process of re-installing everything. I'm currently struggling to fit the HVAC pipes in the Frunk to the new expansion valve. The pipe ends when fitted together don't appear to fit the expansion valve, they are a few mm too wide apart to fit the expansion valve ports. Has anyone experienced this before?

Silly question....are you sure you are fitting it the right way around?
The holes are closer together on one side.

If its not that then I can only guess that the new expansion valve is the wrong model.

Thanks for the reply. It's definitely the correct way around, the 10mm bolt that connects the pipe to the valve only has an opening on one side of the valve.
