Default Cat or no cat?

Need to make a decision...cat or no cat? Factory exhaust is in great shape, but the ceramic bits started falling out, so I'll need to do something (eventually).

Opinions? Parts recos?

Thanks in advance.

FVD cat bypass and G-pipe with a wong chip. Wakes the motor up big time and all across the rev range.

Bypass is illegal on the street and adds maybe 2hp compared to a sport cat. Guess how much fun it is sitting in traffic on a motorcycle behind a cat-less car that is making your eyes water. Be a good neighbor please.

Is the ceramic coming from your stock cat, or your exhaust port liners?

catless with the proper chip to correct AFRs makes much more than +2hp not to mention sounds much better when the primary muffler is left in place. I ride a bike too, and I can’t remember the last time I actually sat behind a car...perhaps you need a more narrow bike.

cat bypass and chip provides substantial power increase

but the fumes are strong, at start, and standing

not for the faint of heart (nor acceptable with spouses/kids or any one other than off-the-chain car nerds)

ROW NZ, were deliverd with a cat bypass. When I put a G pipe on I did get a fume smell. I swapped out the G Pipe and fitted a primary cup pipe. So, stock cat bypass, cup pipe, and a stock secondary, no fume smell, and a nice sound (IMO). And arguable more HP.

Keep the cat. The power gain - little as it is - in no way justifies the additional pollution.

No cat, primary bypass, Wong chip, done. Sounds great, pulls harder. I dont know what people are talking about in regards to a different smell. As for pollution, hardly anyone is driving their vintage collector vehicle that is often kept in pristine running condition enough to worry about the pollution aspect.

That's because they are using HJS cats, the best in the business. Little to no measurable hp would be compromised.

I have the FVD sport cat along with Steve Wong chip and don't notice any less power over the cat bypass + chip. If there's a difference, my butt dyno can't pick it up.
Only difference now is my son/wife don't get headaches driving in the car with me.
