Default Unplugged connector in engine comp.

Hi,

can anyone help me here? This connector came off while my car was !sitting! for winter. Additionally, a nice oil leak developed (however I dont think those two are connected)
What is going through this? I Assume its safe to reconnect?
See picture, connector is located just below one of the coils!

Cheers!

It looks like the wire to the temperature sensor in the heater duct. Does your heater duct between the fan and the exhaust connected to two sets of wires? One for the heating resister and the other for the temperature probe.

Looks to me it the plug for the second coil if you zoom in on the pic you can see one coil plugged in and right next to it the unplugged one
Plug it in should be cool

Thanks but this one is 8 pins or so while the T-Probe has 2. I also think its something with the coils since its double but I cant find the connectors in the wiring schme

Appears to be the connector for the second ignition control unit , will likely run badly if remains disconnected , the connector is sitting directly behind those two wires in your photo..Bert

I agree with John and Bert. I am surprised you can run the car without it connected or haven't done any damage with only 6 plugs firing. Plug it in and the car should wake up.

Completely agree with everyone above, definitely looks like the second ignition control unit connector. And like colbalt stated I'm sure you would notice it once you started the car up.

I wonder how it came off with the car sitting in the garage. Mice?
it definitely ran well when I parked it a few weeks ago.

Gravity. Are you sure you are running on all 12 plugs? Is it possible someone unplugged the secondary because the distributor belt is broken. Plugging it back in with a broken belt could be disastrous.

I’ve had the car for years. And its well serviced. No one deliberately unplugged it for sure.
And before winter, I had it on the German autobahn. 140(mph) is quite standard and far from topping out. Don’t see half of the sparks here.

But its a keyed plug with a security spring :-/ ill just put it back and hope that’s it.

Check that it is a locked fit when plugging it back in. Could be the clip or plug has been damaged or just was not 100% locked in.

If it doesn't hold tightly you might consider removing the coil pack and inspecting everything to see it doesn't happen again. IIRC there is just a single allen screw holding them in place.
