Default Clutch slave cylinders, OEM or aftermarket?

Went for a drive yesterday and after checking the oil out in the driveway I noticed some issues with the clutch pedal returning to full height and engaging first gear.

Replaced brake fluid and bleed brakes and clutch slave a couple of months back after replacing shocks and everything has been fine since. Checked fluid level in the reservoir and it looks good.

So I am thinking about bleeding slave again and perhaps replacing the slave and the soft line the goes to it as preventative maintenance.

My question to those who replaced their slave cylinders and line.

Have you used OEM or aftermarket cylinders and lines?

I'd go with an oem slave and the stainless clutch line available through fvd

I used a OEM slave from FTE. Sounds like you might have a sheared roll pin in your pedal cluster and not air in the system.

For anyone posting about their experience would you post mileage and time used on these parts to give a fuller picture. Thanks!

OEM slave and soft line (fvd ss braided line)replaced 6 years ago and 35k miles. Been working fine ever since.

Had a broken roll pin though since. I would put my money on that.

I recently installed an MPL slave with stainless line and it has a light feel with a predictable bite point. It matches the throttle nicely now for smoother take off from standing start.

I too have recently fitted an MPL slave cylinder when I installed a 993 6 speed transmission. Pedal effort is greatly reduced. It's a great mod.

mine came w/ the car. you can get them from the maker or on eBay. I don't see any posted on eBay at the moment, you can call them, they're in Germany:

I'm on the fence about the mpl slave. I have one i haven't installed - but i have installed a few on other cars and although it's a very pretty object, i didn't notice any real big change in performance over an FTE slave. And with all the hassle of borrowing parts from a good slave, and then only having really one shot with the slave boot, since i have yet to find a source for that boot that fits over the spring, I'm just not sure it's worth the cost in the end.

Does anyone have a source for that boot? (Bellows)...

Think about it- you go through all the expense to install it, and then when the boot goes, and you need to rebuild it...you have another pita again to rebuild, and in order to find a new boot, you'd have to steal it from a good new Slave?

Also, they really should have designed it to use a snap ring, cuz prying out the press in retainer will eventually destroy the slave.

Soooooo, mpl, if you are listening- please provide the parts with the slave, and machine a channel in there for a snap ring...

Oh, and although we can source seals to rebuild it...pls provide a source for those as well.

Just got done ordering a FTE slave cylinder, FVD ss line, and bushings and a roll pin for the pedal assembly. Figure I will wait till all the parts show up before I take it apart.

Between this and a broken fog light lens I had a uneventful Wednesday drive.

Thanks for all the input.

ordered the MPL slave now one more question where did you find the slave cylinder rebuild kit so I can get a new boot and retainer? I guess If I read Rob post I'd see you have to buy a new one and steal the parts from that.
