Default rear spoiler issue

Was wondering if anyone has any ideas on this. This started after it had been in storage for winter. When I turned the ignition on (without starting the car) the light comes on and the spoiler goes all the way up. After driving for about 20min and then coming to a stop it retracted like normal and then raised again like normal so I didn’t worry about it. This past weekend I turned the ignition on and it raised again, but this time the ! lit up on the warning screen after driving for a little while. Once I reduced speed and came to a stop it didn’t lower and the ! was still on. By the time I reach my house and parked it retracted like normal.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

On my car, when the spoiler operation became erratic, it was the spoiler CU.

There are a few core bits to this:
speed sensor signal
the control unit
the mechanics on the wing

The normal behavior is start car, light comes on, spoiler is DOWN. Spoiler does not come up until 50mph or so, drops at stop.
The spoiler should not go up on car start

It would be great if you had a way to swap your speed sensor with a known good one. I believe 89-90 are different than 91+

I had similar problems when I bought mine since it had been in storage for a while.

In the control unit there are two relays soldered to the board. The contacts get tarnished and burnt with age and can cause erratic behavior.
I don't know how much they cost in the States, but here a second hand control unit is over 200$.
The relays cost me 20 cents each....

Its been working perfectly every day for the last 8 years.
