Default Need help re: front hood

Can anyone tell me with certainty if the front hood of a 993 fits the 964?
Thanks for info!

I believe this was asked once before and the answer was a definite no. Also - I know that when I replaced my bonnet badge I discovered the 964 and 993 badges are completely different - one is flat, one is curved - so I think this also suggests they are completely different shapes.

The 2 badges are the same shape, I think it was probably the fact that the old one had been pushed flat over the years

Default The 993 hood...

...has it's windshield cleaner "squirters" in the hood.

The 964 has them mounted in the cowl.

When I had my "incident" and needed a new hood, I considered closing up the holes in the cowl and "upgrading" to the 993 hood and it's easily maintained "squirters"...never made it past the idea, not 100% sure on fitment but I think it will fit.

Someone told me the hood is a few inches longer - I doubt that, although have yet to verify.

the hoods are the same except for the washer squirters - one of the other would have to go. also the 993 hood's creases are rounded and the 964 uses a sharp crease. other than that they are the same.

Thanks to all. Based on that I'll bite the bullet and buy the hood in question.

No they're not.

Both were new - I ended up with a 993 one because the bodyshop bought the wrong one so I then had to go and get a 964 one. They are different part numbers - and one has a curved back, one has a flat back.

SO, I'm guessing that the flat one was the 964 one??

I have replaced mine and recall it to be flat.

If the 993 version of the badge is in fact curved, that would be enough to convince me that the hood will NOT fit a 964, someday I'll have to look into this.

Porsche has used at least 3 (maybe more) manufacturers of the badge in the last 20 years or so. The part number changes due to the black filled in lettering on the 993 part number. The basic badge is the same, differences in manufacturing processes may give the impression that some are flat and some are curved, I have seen early and late versions in various finishes, just because you ask for a 993 part number dont think it will be a different shape than a 911 part number from another source!

This seems a pointless thing to argue about so this is my last post. I had new 993 and new 964 badges from an OPC on the same day. The parts guy at the OPC told me they were different when I picked the 964 one up - and it was quite clear that one was very curved and one was flat.
In addition - the reason I needed the 964 one was because when the 993 one was bolted onto the bonnet - the laquer cracked BECAUSE it was not the right shape for the bonnet.

I'm not sure what more evidence you need. I had a new 993 badge and it didn't fit my bonnet. I bought a new 964 one and it did. If you still want to believe they are actually the same shape then good luck to you.

Boy now I'm confused!! There were 3 different numbers for the badge, 90155921020 this is to be used up and then the 99355921100 number is to be used, then this number is to used up and the 99655921100 is to be used!! (all on PET version 171) So basically Porsche are syaing there will be one badge only available from them for all models and it will be the 996 part number. Do they know something about the bonnet shapes? The 996 and Boxster havent changed bonnets from the start, but up to 2001 they quote the 993 number!!..............I'll get my coat...........and hat.........gloves...........

Well yeah, but why not stop contributing on something you don't know anything about. It works for me, which is why I am so quiet.

Surely I've just proved I do know something about it?
