964 RS Differences to normal C2 detail needed
#16
Burning Brakes
The RS touring was available with many C2 options, sunroof, headlamp washers, electric windows, fogs etc. Also the door cars are like a C2 and the rear quarter internal sound deadening panel is retained which it isn't in the normal RS. Steering wheel and position of the gear stick is also different to a C2 as it uses the short shift. If yours is an early C2 then the tunnel needs to be modified to accept the short shift kit. Externally the rear bumper but also the brakes are different, power not vacuum like a C2 and rotors/discs are different. It depends on the lengths you want to go to get something you like.

Yes I am in the UK, I’ll speak with Mark Taylor thank you.
I will be doing the roof myself. I am a bodywork guy, semi retired, trying to be fully retired. I work mainly on Italian Classics, and Historic race cars.
I have already colour changed the engine bay, and the frunk area is almost finished. The reason for going with Rubystone, apart from liking the colour is, I won’t have to declare the colour change in the vehicles title documents. It is already listed as ‘Red’ and I am just changing it to a different type of red. (Originally GR).
My initial plan was to widebody it in steel, but doing the arches in a Singeresque style exposing a lot of the tyre, but my intention now is to sell it when it is finished so I am going down the RS route. But hey, who knows, I may end up keeping it.

Ah, I thought your were referring to the Cup Mirrors that stick on the corner of the wing window.
In the States they are mostly referred to as Aero mirrors.

I can measure where my hood prop is installed and send measurements if that is helpful, someone make a repop of these but I can't remember who. Keep in mind that the RS hood is made out of AL and not steel so it is quite a bit lighter, not sure hood prop will hold up steel hood without bending

Yes measure it Phil. I'd love to see if my guys were close when mounted mine. Just curious...

I haven't had any issues. Based on the way it's mounted, and the support of the frunk hinges, I don't think it's under much shear force.

When I put mine on originally I just did it by eye from pics on the net. I also used to prop it by using the hole in the top of the front strut, instead of the nut Porsche suggest, as it felt more secure to me

Are you looking for the location of where it attaches to the bonnet ? I have a carbon kevlar bonnet which I haven't unboxed yet but I have been told it has the holes pre-drilled for the strut to attach to - can measure this when I get a minute.
