Yes as long as it stays in position, go with whatever works as it’s not seen anyway! I might look for some black silicon tubing to use instead, but not sure if it’s available. Will let you know!

In my case once I removed the rubber strip it immediately from my old reflector it shrunk nearly 2 inches. When I placed it on the modded reflector i first glued down the centre of the strip and left it to cure. Then over a couple of days I stretched the rubber strip bit by bit a couple of inches at a time from the centre out and clamped in place, glued down and left to cure. In the end it worked a treat and back to full length. The final finish was then applying black silicone seal the whole length on the engine side to make more secure and look neat.

I think maybe you are talking about the spongy rubber strip on top of the reflector, what I am referring to are the 2 round strips that fit on to the edge of where the reflector lens was fixed on. These 2 strips sit under the perforated panel and cannot be seen after everything is fitted. Understand?

@bw-porsche Just started the rubber trim and even thou the edge is minimal, the rubber trim holds well.

Thanks!

Andrew, it all depends on the profile of the edge where the lens was cut/ broken off from. I think mine must be thicker or uneven because I used the multi tool, which tended to ‘melt cut’ the lens off!! (Probably needed a slower speed). Going to glue the rubber trim on today with super glue, so I might reply if my fingers aren’t stuck permanently together! Be in touch!

Although the previous panels are not available anymore, I can still provide help with parts, wiring and setup. STL files are available upon request.

Let's start. Here is where I am right now. The panel is sealed and painted. Hardware TBD.

Thanks!

Andrew or anyone else that knows, where did you come up with screen that covers the rear center tail light?

Hi, I've been making these for several years. Usually in batches of 10-20 panels/kits per year. The one above is an older version. New Panels are laser cut and do not require trim around the edge. I have one on a go currently (fully converted panel - Euro conversion). Let me know if you are interested.

The panel is in progress, bulb sockets-wires need to go in for the fog lights.

Thanks!
Andrew

Hi, I've made another Rear Reflector DIY kit for a member here recently and I have just about enough hardware to make one more. This would be the last kit in the V2 run as I want to move on to developing V3. Due to higher cost of materials I am offering the kit for $185USD (+shipping). Please PM me if interested.
