Dear Alfred,
I have never seen or heard anything about the RS using a different jack. Structural integrity of the jack would be somewhat diminished if it was made of aluminium.
They will be the same as any other 964 jack.

A friend of mine has a smaller and lighter version in his RS with a Porsche number, but it's not made of aluminium. But it was a big difference when I had it in my hand compared to my jack.

My original ( I assume ) jack is made of aluminium with a steel centre shaft and footing.

Aluminium and alu-alloys are two different things. Mine is certainly not aluminium, is quite heavy and has been used a few times as well. The pad appears to be made of the same stuff as the rest of the jack except the jack screw. I think it is a cast metal of some description.

Here is a picture of the jack that came with my Carrera Cup USA, I'm sure it is aluminum exceptiing the screw, pivots, large rivets and threaded blocks the screw works in. The small rivets appear to be aluminum. It weighs 3.75 pounds. Is this what the RS jack looks like as well?

Sure. But, when was the last time anything for a car was made of pure aluminum? Would be rather soft, wouldn't it?

I just looked in PET and found that the 964 uses one part number for the jack up to MY 1992 and another for MY 1993 and on.

The illustration is the same for both jacks and looks identical to the jack I pictured above.

Could it be the early jack was steel and the later jack was aluminum but the 1992 RS was the first to get the aluminum jack?????

The part number for the 93- jack matches that of the 993 jack which is NOT a scissor type jack and was not made of alloy.
