"Wow" is right indeed.
I've seen a lot but this.. THIS is som'n else!
Certainly won't be the cheapest after you're done with it.
All the best!
I don't think it will be the cheapest - but I think the amount of car that I will end up with for my total investment will make it well worth it.

So I'll start another post about this but yes, he did spend a lot of money on the engine build...unfortunately, it was with Motormeister and at this moment, I have no idea what's in the engine. It is supposedly a 4.0L but considering the stock induction and other things that just don't make sense...I'm betting and HOPING it's just a stock 3.6. Either way, I could sell the engine for almost what I paid for it - so I can not complain. It runs and drives.

Funny you say that. The entire decklid will either end up on the wall or under a sheet of glass as a coffee table.
Any guesses to what the second wing is from? (The seller told me, so I know - just wondering if anyone else wants to take a stab at it?!)
I kept seeing this car when I was searching for my 964 and my heart sunk every time I looked at the photos.
Glad someone is going to bring it back to life.
Can't wait to see the progress!
She's beautiful and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!! Hahaha, glad it worked out for you Jeff!
Thanks man - Was going to call you but the day ran long. The car had a battery drain issue (which is now resolved) and it took hours of screwing with it before we called the auto club to jump start it. My expectations were low, so it worked out. I only cared that the engine idled and ran - and that there was no obvious damage from a wreck. As a bonus, the air is ice cold.
I came very close to buying a 250K mi 1988 coupe from an original owner for $20K. Still regret that. You can make a huge improvement to this car by just unbolting stuff, scraping off decals, and spray painting the vent at the rear of the hood to black again. What's with the yellow there and chrome side vents, and front "driving" lights!!! Congratulations and I hope the interior has not also been bastardized, but I see lots of sheepskin and shoulder harnesses in there.
So, what did you pay? Where did it spend it's life? What does the underneath look like? Any leaks?
Sounds like a fun project. This is what I was looking for originally before something else fell into my lap. Good on ya!

The more you look at it, the more you see that makes you go hmmmmm.. The chrome vents are supposed to pull more air in for cooling...along with the shower drains behind. He as in Las Vegas and it's hella hot there, so...?? The front bumper cover with lights - no idea where that even originated from. The interior is pretty wrecked. Original seats are replaced with some racing buckets that I don't even fit in and you saw the harnesses. Dash area and cluster all look good.

It seems to have been a California and Nevada car. No leaks bad enough to leave a noticeable spot in the last week but I can tell you from the smell - there's oil burning SOMEWHERE .
