In case you're looking for more high-speed thrills, I highly recommend track days with your local PCA. It's safer and legal. BTW, my car feels rock steady at 140 mph.
As for C4 understeer, it all comes back to the friction circle. Turning and accelerating asks more of the front wheels than turning alone. While stomping on the gas at a turn will cause the tail to step out on a rwd C2, the awd C4 will overwork the front tires which causes them to slip. That's why 225's are often recommended for C4's--to even things out.
