I've been talking to a chap with a RS that is still in europe, and I'm struggling to put a # on it. Its not a museum quality car and used to be a track day car. but it supposedly does have almost all the original components that made the RS special. It's not the quality of the $300k+ cars that get posted for sale already landed here in the US. But I'm not spending that on a car I'd be afraid to drive for fear of hurting it anyway.
I want to find someone who knows the values, and then possibly a second person who would be willing to be paid to go look at it and confirm it is what it is.
Who around here would be willing to have a phone conversation?

No affiliation, but might I suggest you also speak to these guys - http://www.autofarm.co.uk/projects.html
Autofarm have been around for years and have a solid history of RS's from when they were new. I have heard that many/most of the UK RS's will be famliar to these guys at one time or other (they have records that go back decades). They should be able to advise likely market and pricing for average, non-garage queen, RS's.

ok. I guess plentiful is relative. there are 419 of them. I see collector quality ones for sale here in the US. I guess I don't know where to search for non-restored ones in the wild that were used as intended for 20 years...
If there are plenty listed for sale, where would you be looking that I am not?
Thanks,
Matt

I maybe able to help you. I own an RS and a friend of mine just bought two. I follow the prices pretty closely.
also, if you are interested, I have a guy who PPI's all the cars I buy. He is one of Europe's best known experts on 964 RSs and travels the world inspecting cars for buyers, including USA buyers. When he inspects a car for me, if he says "buy this car", I buy, he says, "walk away", I walk away.
Where is the RS that you are interested in?
