The cut out will be facing to the closest edge of the board on the motronic. Also, it can be easy to accidentally install and have a couple of the little pins sticking out or not in the sockets. I would open back up and check.

Adrian,

I do keep my close up images when I swapped my chip years ago, the purpose of doing so is that I hope these step-by-step photos may help someone who want to DIY exchange chip in later days. You're welcomed to use it anywhere if there is anyone suitable since I do benefited a lot from this forum and your 964 Bible of course. Please let me know how to send images to you if you need it. Hope these helps.

Nice work, PJ!

Can you post a picture of the separated circuit board showing the installed chip?

Sure, the separated circuit board as shown, DME chip is in the center of right circuit board under a white plastic cover.

Chip installed without plastic cover, mine came from Autothority.

Thanks for your input everyone.

Joey, the chip was inserted in the correct position. I have to assume that the original chip is somehow damaged.

Any ideas on how to get hold of an original chip? Would someone, who has succesfully changed their chip, be interested in selling me their original?

Dear PJ,
If you would like to send your images to adrianstreather@rennlist.net I can add them to my procedure and maybe post it up as a technical advice section in pdf format.
I cannot add it to my book at 2nd print unfortunately because it would add pages.
I left it out of my book because I could not get decent images. I think you have those images so together with my verified procedure, I did it and another person did it, so I am sure we could make something useful.
Ciao,
Adrian

You really need a picture showing the socket notch and chip notch aligned.

Good Luck

does anyone know how this issue was resolved? It sounds very similar to an issue I am having.
