It’s the little things. Finally got rid of those plastic interior handles, they've been replaced by Rennline aluminum door handles! Love the look and they feel great to the touch.

BTW, thank goodness for old posts on this! I hate those tiny c-clips on the end of the rod that holds the handle in place!
(Another great Rennline product, with no instructions... how would you ever know how to install them without RL?)

Also got rid of more stereo equipment!

absolutely love rennline products but sometimes hate there aren’t instructions.
I used to have the handles and loved them but switched over to RS panels and am very happy.

Looking good Udo!

I totally agree, it’s the little improvements and upgrades that make the car yours and also slowly restore it back to its original glory. The 964 platform is awesome in that sense, truly one of the few platforms that lets you create your own masterpiece.

New tire day and she's looking skinnier... Conti ExtremeContact Sport refresh

My car was wearing 235/275s when I purchased it. They looked a little balloon-y, but were in new condition so I happily drove with that set up, only occasionally scraping the front fender liners on fast, rough roads. So when I started looking for another set of tires I thought I would go with the more standard 964 combo of 225/255. Over time I've done some mods to sharpen up the steering, so hoping the slightly smaller tires sharpen the steering up a little bit more and make the car feel a bit more agile (and maybe better accel. with a smaller rear tire too). I've gone through many sets of 205/255, so it will be fun to see if I notice a difference and have found the sweet spot. With fresh mold release on the tires I'll give them some time before I push it, but I will say I kept thinking the roads I was taking home seemed to be in bad condition...and I hadn't noticed it as much on the drive in to the shop? She looks a bit skinnier now, and can see into the fender wells easier to.

Obviously this car is not about being super lightweight, but I do want it to drive as well as it possibly can, so I look to replace parts with something better (ie: narrower spirited design focus).

That was the thought when shopping for batteries. I couldn't stomach buying another old-tech 50 lb lead acid battery out of habit and noticed people where having luck with these new lightweight batteries (not the $1,000 ones). Looking at the success Jack Olsen had with his 5 lb BetteryTender lawnmower battery, I tried it. I ran it for 2 years in a previous 964. With that success, I went with the much improved Antigravity ATX30 in this car. I drive a couple times a week, but the car occasionally sits for a week or two while traveling. (use AC, lights, but no radio)

I love recommending them, given my success, but am I just lucky? Don't want anyone to get screwed trying one... so what are the numbers?

Tired of hearing "it jumps to life"... Antigravity sent some battery trackers to see the numbers really are.
Cool piece of kit: https://antigravitybatteries.com/pro...acker-lithium/

Charge level as the car sits in the garage right now (so COOL).

Played with different ways to attach it. But ended up choosing the most hidden option (I don't use the frunk carpet, like to see everything). Angle of photo is weird, but it sits tucked out view, and can easily flip it out to show someone the device or flip back out of the way.

The car definitely feels different with smaller tires all around, especially at the rear (down from 275 to 255). With the 275s, the rear felt locked down, as if it had too much mechanical grip (if that's possible). Now the steering feels tighter up front (225, down from 235), and more agile in back. Overall the car feels more playful. Very happy with the new set up now.

Had a great time mural hunting with my daughter!

It’s amazing how much of a change a new set of wheels and tires can make on these cars. I noted a dramatic difference when I switched from 16 to 17” on my Targa, the car feels far more planted and with more traction all around. It also transitions flatter.

Nice to see the continued progress.

Looking forward to seeing your new rubber. BTW, about 10 P owners showed up in parking area Jasons Deli early Sat morning - then few of us drove to Road Scholars - Cam stuck his head out a bit he was filming a new YouTube segment on B Redmond's 70th anniversary win @ Targa Florio.

I just missed you guys. Was scouting the downtown Durham mural scene and crossing my fingers for #Luft7

My 17 year old son loves to make videos, so we decided to go for a drive and get some drone footage of the 964. We ended up doing more driving than filming, so I’m totally amazed at what he was able to put together so quickly from a couple film stops. Hope you like it.

Had a fun day playing with the big boys at VIR. Our small group had the track for the day and it felt great to be back. I had about 10 track days in my previous 964, but the first time in this car.

With only 10 of us sharing the track for the day, there was no rush or worry about getting enough track time. VIR is a monster of a course. Two high speed stretches, and a set of climbing and descending esses. Started the day off with an easy 20 minute session, but had to pull in on the third lap because something was shaking up front... it was all the soft rubber I was picking up driving off line. Of course.

What I really wanted to do was some enduro sessions... so a bit slower but much longer. Just wanted to get in the groove, and not be on the ragged edge, pushing it is a soft street car. My next stint was a solid hour lapping and I was in heaven. Next goal was to drive through a whole tank of gas. That equaled about 2 hrs of steady lapping, most of the time I was the only one on the track! So I pull in at 5 pm and make a quick stop at the track entrance to thank the marshals They were loving the 964 and after a bunch of thumbs up, one of them joked and asked my why I was coming in early. Track closes at 5:30... so back out. The gas light came on after a couple more laps and I nursed it until the session was over. Big grin.

It's not a race car, it’s not super fast, but these cars are so solid and rewarding to drive. I wasn’t killing it, but was constantly reving out 2, 3, 4 during the sessions and engine temp never went past 9. Lap after lap I was hitting 120-130 on the two straights and the brakes felt solid the whole time. I definitely beat up my new tires.

Got home, grabbed a beer and started to clean up the car. Wow there was rubber everywhere, but it all cleaned up nicely like nothing ever happened. These cars are amazing!

I am so jealous. Any track time would be great but VIR with so few on track is heaven in my book. That is a lot of rubber for one day, sounds like you had a blast. I am signed up for Watkins the end of July and hopefully will be down to VIR in October than over to Luft. I hope things continue to open. Although they have a BLM rally in my home town tonight not far from my home. I hope things stay civilized.
