Porsche Classic radio install advice
I’ve read many, many stereo posts already. I’m hoping someone can help walk me through the diagnosis and installation.
I just purchased a ‘93 c2 tip and the radio (FM reception)is junk. I spoke with the original owner today( I’m the second)and he said it progressively got worse over the past several years. I have ordered a Porsche classic radio to replace it.
Once I remove the old radio, I just plug in the exsisting harness, antenna and Amp plug? Do you expect that to work?

Just went out to garage and turned on the radio and it sounds pretty good unless you turn the volume ****...then it’s static city! When I drove the car it was horribly staticky also.

I think it is indeed plug and play. If I'm correct, you'll have a remote USB port to fish to that is made to set on top of your center console below the ashtray.
Why do most newer vehicles not have an ashtray any longer? They make great little trash cans.

pull the old radio before you start and see if hopefully nobody has cut the existing harness off. i pulled my original stock radio out to find the harness had been cut for another radio aftermarket radio. then the original was reinstalled sometime later just wired up with tape.

If no one has messed with it, it should be plug and play. My 964 had horrible radio reception when I bought it. Pulled the HU and discovered the antenna was not even plugged in. Works great now.

The most common cause for bad FM reception is a disconnected power supply for the antenna amplifier. This is a thin white or black wire bundled along with the antenna coax wire. This wire must be connected to the Antenna or Remote out power output on the head unit.

My understanding is the removal keys come with the Classic Radio? If so, I will check out to see if the lack of ps for the antenna booster is the issue. Is this wire easily identifiable?

Ok, I got the old one out and the antenna was indeed unplugged!
Next question, is there any reason today for the “media box” ? It seems I can Bluetooth my music direct without using this device. Can you charge your phone on this?...seems like the only reason to install this media box.

Plug and play...my a$$ !
I need a blaupukt amp adapter, AND I need to cut the exsisting harness off and rewire. Probably not a big deal for many—-I’m gonna get a professional. He can install all my new speakers too, even though the old were better than I expected.

Don't cut, you can order the adaptor plug. they make it for the nokia and the blaupunkt amp. i guess thats why its offered separately.
you have the cut the main adaptor plug? that should be plug and play if the original is still on the car
this is the blaupunkt version.
