Soundproofing advice?
I am looking for soundproofing advice from people who have done it. I will be getting the whole interior of my car redone, carpet, seats, door cards, etc. I want to completely soundproof the car while it is torn apart as I am sensitive the road and engine noise-even. My interior guy recommends a combination of dynamat on the flat surfaces, and a thinner rubber material everywhere else.
Any tips and experiences you can share are appreciated, so I can have semi-intelligent discussions with my installer as I get the sense he doesn’t do this type of thing often.

Any other her advice is welcomed. My plan is not lightweight. A combination of dynamat and the black rubberized stuff my guy recommends with regular sliverknit carpeting which also has 1/4” or more backing.

Please take this as a serious comment, but have you considered getting a set of earplugs? A lot of musicians I work with have custom made ear plugs that are very comfortable and work incredibly well. It's a cheap alternative to all of the excess work and weight you're considering adding to your car. Even the throwaway ones Ive used when working in nightclubs and music venues are a godsend. I've even ridden my motorcycle with them in from time to time.

Thanks, Jim4Life. I understand. I actually have the best custom ear plugs in the world for shooting( should have had the 40 years ago). I need my jams though, tough to hear my music with the plugs in, plus I think it’s slightly unsafe to drive with them in.

I took out all of the soundproofing and installed Dynamat with Dynaliner over the top. It was a full install of both and the weight was a push to the original. The heavy part was the dynamat. It noticeably reduces noise but not modern quiet.

Jerry- good question on weight...I don’t know. My guess is as good as yours(maybe not). I will guess +35lbs. I can weigh the old and new soundproofing and carpet.

Thank for the info. I’m not looking for modern quiet, but my 964 is already quieter than my 07 c2s. I really think it’s not far off from my 15 c2s already, although it has much bigger tires- which might be why.

From my thread: I added 3.1kg in Dynaliner and 13kg in Dynamat. Add in the rubber sheets I added and this is a net PUSH on OE weight I.e. This car is no heavier than the day it was built.
btw i way overused the Dynamat.
