Default 964 Cup II questions

Just acquired a set of Cup II 17” rims that I am planning on installing on my 1990 C2 Cab.

The wheels have been chrome plated but have part markings on the back side of the spokes as follows.

7J X 17 ET55 993.362.124.00 and 9J X 17 ET 55 993.362.128.00.

My questions.

Are these OEM or replica rims?

Will 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 tires fit a 1990 NB C2 Cab without any fitment issues?

Those look OEM to me. I had a set that I sold a couple years ago (wish I'd kept them) when I didn't have a 964 or 986 (which is what I got them for). With the right color those should look nice. A bit "blingy" for some, especially the black wheel crowd, but I'd be OK with that look.

Factory 993 wheels not worth much even in perfect condition. The chrome plating detracts. The triangle marking with the OE in it is the factory marking for original parts.

Yes they are factory and yes, the sizes you mentioned will fit well.

Thanks for all of the replies, I was curious if these wheels were OEM.

I know that plated wheels aren’t for everyone but I like the look, D90’s that came on the car are plated also.

Agree. I use a set as track wheels. They just don't look quite right to me on a 964.

i'm sure the OP appreciates the input that they look stupid and are worthless, but his question was on fit and OE.

hang in there OP...if you like 'em, rock 'em.

Good point. Opinions are like belly buttons. Everyone has one. My Cup 2s were close to perfect and not expensive. I wish I could get the same deal on OE Cup 1s.

OP, I run those size tyres on my Cup 2s on a NB C4. They fit fine, although for track work I like to add a 5mm spacer to the rears to make sure the right rear clears the oil line under extreme cornering.

You guys are funny, don’t worry I was looking technical expertise not style validation.

It may seem funny but I like the look of Cup II's over Cup I’s

The wheels that I would really like to have are 17” Fuchs.

http://www.fuchsfelgeusa.com/wheel/1...felge-fuchs-17

Since I don’t want to spend that much to move up to 17” I am going with these right now.

The rims have some ancient Bridgestones, 225/45/17 and 265/40/17. I was planning on test fitting them to see if they fit. The 265’s look a bit wide compared to the 16’s currently on the car.

Anyway no problems with others opinions but keep sharing your knowledge with those of us who haven’t been around these cars as long.

You have good taste. My daily wheels are 17” Fuchs. They are like jewellery

Just not in the budget right now, after new tires I am thinking shocks and springs to get down to ROW height.

Like you I opted to do the suspension before splurging on wheels and I’m glad I did. Bilstein B6 are excellent and will transform the cars handling. If you’re doing your own work the cost to do the suspension isn’t bad. Paying someone to do it will more than double the cost.

My car came with a set of Cup II’s and I bought D90’s since I concour the car. I can take a look later to see what tire sizes are on the Cups. I did find a slight amount of rubbing on the rear oil line with the wider wheels/tires installed.
