That’s impressive that the pad in still in such good condition. Are you looking for weight reduction, or do you want soundproofing?

If you want soundproofing, consider replacing the old padding with a layer of Dynamat Lite topped with some MLV with closed cell foam. The cabin will be noticeably quiter, and less apt to retain moisture.

If you’re looking for weight reduction, lose the padding altogether and toss in wooden floor boards. $15 for some thin plywood and a rattle can and you’re good to go.

Hey Foxman! The whole interior was pretty good, im starting to feel awful stripping it out! Those floorboards look so Good! I' going down the lightweight path at the moment. Wanto make the car fast and aggressive. If it's too uncomfortable to ride in I'll definately add some dynamat later.

Yup. I'd keep the old carpet around as a template to help size and layout the new RS carpet - then bin it!

Almost ready to start carpeting!
11 hour day stripping. Not stopping until it's perfect.

>Wtf is it all!?

It's a hack and I wouldn't mind betting that one day it'll give you problems. I couldn't sleep at night until that was all gone. Quite probably the usual remains of an aftermarket stereo/alarm install mess.

Yeah I was thinking stereo or something. I might post some pictures of the other side tomorrow. There's all sorts of crap there too! I'l get this carpet sorted then put the wiring on the list.
