I am not sure about this thing but I think that you need to repair the pcb firstly, then you can move to transistor. There are a lot of pcb basics guides that are really easy and you can find a lot of information about this. Personally I learned everything in a month and now I can repair almost everything. So, I think that you better need to renew everything that looks bad on the board and to change the transistor. Pcbs are different but the process of work is almost the same.
