I'm glad it's not a big deal... less risk as well when it's not opened completely. What was the other shop thinking... I can only speak from my experience where the mechanic constantly communicates and leaves decision to me in consultation with him, that I don't expect anything less going forward.
It took a few conflicts in the past at other places, but it was all worth it in the end.
