Hey folks first of all thanks for the interest/questions about the 964... Dan pointed me to this thread so I thought I'd share a few thoughts and clear up some stuff. First of all no we did not re-invent the wheel. A while ago I wanted to get a 964 having driven them so many times over the years and one fell into my lap locally back in late 2016. I like a specific set up on cars and no car I've ever had has ever been stock- just not my mojo. To make a long story short together with James, Dan & Stewart's help I just wanted a fun sport-purpose daily driver/canyon carver. I've always loved the feel/poise of the 964 and with a good few years of modding some good, some bad, some ugly under our belts we built a fun little runner. The 35hp comes from a lot more than just an "ECU"... the entire kit involves, a MAF, new higher-flow injectors, intake & exhaust etc... Additional power really isn't anything "special" in this day and age but with the combination of parts I'll take it.... There's actually much more to it than that. Being able to get rid of the barn door AFM and properly controlling/manipulating software for a super light flywheel (from the 4.0) and other fun clutch parts would simply not be great for bay area traffic without something such as this. The throttle response is so much improved and to my personal liking- dare I say it the car almost feels as responsive as a modern e-gas car. Perhaps that's pushing it a bit far and may not be to purists liking either but that's ok.
Couple this with some improved braking/suspension parts (and helpful alignment from my chums at TC design) plus sorting the shifter with FD and many other things we've made a really fun car for "ME". I've had some friends and journalists ask to drive it and their feedback has been super-positive. So even though we don't officially "work" on 964s under the radar we've been building a few for existing customers, friends and family only to this point. However you may have seen some articles either in Total 911, European Car etc... and yes Speedhunters too.
PS Hah the chrome bezel H4s are a hit or miss thing. I guess I wanted there to be something that said it's not a stock 964. They're are some hidden LEDs in there too so I can see at night on those dangerous bay area commutes....

I like it. Subtle mods.

The splitter on the SW-owned car is the OE-style RS two-piece splitter. Cult-Werk sells a really nice set for not a lot of money.
The slammed red car has a RUF-style splitter.

Thanks for posting. It makes more sense that there was more to the 35hp than a “magic tune”. I guess 25 years of technology advances have some application here. I honestly am surprised a tune with bolts one wields 35hp without an increase in octane. But you guys are saying that injectors, a new MAF or MAF delete going to a MAP sense, and headers / exhaust can yield 35 whp? Interesting.

my pleasure and that’d be some crazy magic tune for sure lol! sign me up hah... it’s the sum of many parts indeed and to be honest I just like the driveability more than anything else. Never stalling when coming to a stop light with an ultra -light flywheel is nice too. I’m hoping it’s not too much like an e-gas feel to take the charm away... but the AFM system just cannot cope and does not have a fast enough response time for me and my silly modifications Oh and the cold start is pretty impressive too lol!
are injectors upgrade a must? I will replace my MAF with a “hot wire” setup and I was thinking of using stock ones.
i am not too adamant in changing injectors unless it was on my turbo cars.
cheers

Thanks for introducing us to some new components also. It's great to see these cars run better and better as they age.
Regarding the bezels, black says race and that there's also something going on under the skin... Maybe a quick spray with Plastidip to test the look. Subtle and there's no other chrome on the car. Regardless the car looks great and love what you've done.
Love what you've done with the 3.9 and 4.1 engines. Respect! Got mega cars, turned up a big notch.
A 964 and 997 GT3 is my dream combo...
Yes, definitely sleek. I didn't even really notice it at first. Tempting...

With regards the ECU they are using, I've studied the pictures etc on tesystems Instagram page,

and I'm 100% certain that it is the 964 ECU kit developed and sold by Specialist Components here in the UK

It is the same ECU setup that I run. https://www.specialist-components.co...ement-kit.html

This car is another great example of what the 964 is so good at, flying under the radar.

I drove Alex's 964 in Monterey and it was sublime. With that being said, we were just cruising around and shuttling friends across town.
The car is very nicely put together and the throttle response paired with the RS 4.0 clutch and lightweight flywheel was amazing.
Suspension and braking also had a nice balance.
Long story short....I need one.

Hah that would be fun... and I know Lee from Total 911 had one somewhere but there's probably going to be some more over the coming months. As you know the tweaking never stops:P
