Really thinking about buying one of those Continental units for my old BMW 535is. It looks great.

You should! Looks period correct with modern functionality. I bought the headunit from egauges a few months back for over $200 and I recently saw that it is on sale for less than $200.

My only hesitation has been that I've read I cannot connect my phone directly via USB for listening to music, that I must use Blue Tooth.

Can you confirm? I don't like my phone calls and such being broadcasted over the stereo....

Yes one option for playing music is Bluetooh. Another option is to use the AUX port or store music on a USB flash drive and plug it into the USB port and select the USB flash drive as the source for the music on the head unit.

That head unit looks damn near perfect and those 3-ways probably sound pretty decent. Really like the door cars design too. Nice work
