Default For Sale: 1990 964 C2

Figured I would put this here first for the first 24 hours to give you guys first option. Then RL classifieds and other enthusiast classified sites thereafter. Might take a couple posts to get my long winded write-up posted.

1990 964 C2 5-speed, Black on Cashmere 76,250 Miles with less than 7,700 miles on Porsche factory remanufactured engine direct from Germany. Interior is an 8 out of 10 and consistent with a 76K mile car. Exterior has some dings, scratches, etc. and paint could use a correction and wax job. I consider this car a high end driver quality car. Not a collector car, but a brilliant driver for the person who wants peace of mind wrt the condition of the drive train. Mechanically excellent with some love needed cosmetically. Tens of thousands of dollars spent in the last 7,700 miles. **Full disclosure, the car is very photogenic, and my camera makes the paint look much better than it is in person. It is a 10-footer when not posing for internet photographs. By far the most difficult decision I have ever made to sell a vehicle.

Car is 99% unmolested with the only bolt-on mods being a cult werks splitter and cat delete with primary bypass. Result is a better flowing exhaust with a spectacular sound.

Mechanically, the car needs nothing. Cosmetically, the car needs a small rust bubble repaired at the front windshield base (Very common 964 issue), rear deck lid needs to be repainted (small spot below Carrera 2 badge where paint looks heat damaged), and left rear bumper piece looks like it has been repainted (not whole bumper), scuff on top left front bumper. With exception of the rear left bumper piece, paint looks original to my untrained eye. I have a quote from the local Porsche dealership to do a complete paint correction, repair rust bubble, and repaint decklid for under $2,500. Headliner also has a small spot near the sunroof where it looks like the headliner was melted (Looks like someone got overzealous with a hair dryer) Tires have good tread, but are well beyond manufacturer recommended age. I figure buyer will add new wheels and tires to his/her liking anyway. No warning lights on dash, or error codes in motronic.

I figure price for this car with mileage, condition, extensive mechanical upgrades and work in last 8,000 miles including a replacement engine direct from Germany, this car should easily sell for $65,000. Considering the car needs some paint correction and minor cosmetic work, I will deduct for those items and set the price at $59,900 which is a very generous discount leaving plenty of room for new owner to clean up the exterior, install new headliner, and add aero mirrors, wheels or other cosmetic mods to their liking.

PPIs welcomed and encouraged. I can give a list of shops near me. Please don’t wait too long to request as roads here will start to get messy very quickly and I won’t drive the car on the street after first salt is laid down. These C2 964s are getting very rare to find, especially with this kind of mileage and in this kind of unmolested condition. I’ll be posting more pictures this weekend after I get a chance to detail the interior.

Invoice from Porsche Dealer states "Recommend engine replacement due to excessive oil leaks". I'm sure we would all be shocked how many engines were rebuilt or replaced due to oil leaks that could have been fixed.

Porsche did replace/repair a number of early engines on non-head gasket cars that had excessive leaking under warranty/good will, but this probably all occurred in 1991/1992.
