Lock nuts ?

Hi all
Resurrecting an old thread as I look for the M6 locknuts which are used many many places. I see these offered at $.50 each for instance: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/por...er-99908409402
However reading above, if in fact these all metal locknuts can be reused, I wonder what the downside to doing just that is? Many are on top of the motor where there is less corrosion and, if we are honest, usually a decent coating of oil as protection.
The closest thing I could find at McMaster is these distorted thread locknuts which are specifically said not to be reusable. https://www.mcmaster.com/93795a220

Porsche has all of their locknuts listed as "not reusable" - which is not really the case.
Sometimes it's the correct thing to do to replace. But in most cases - reuse is fine and if you are concerned, a little thread locker is good enough.

This was my instinct. So much goes into a nut's specification that if its in reasonable shape I try to reuse it.
