Weather permitting, daily driver, otherwise only when the sun is out (yes we do get rain in Cyprus). I want to keep the car as dry as possible - not just to keep it pristine but also because driving on wet roads can get really scary. Average then about 100-150 miles per week.

This is something that actually does my head in on a regular basis:
On one shoulder a wee devil - "Drive It! That's why you bought it! Life isn't for retirement planning! You're just a pseudo 911 driver - only driving it on 'special days' and blending right in with the masses every other day. These cars need to be driven to stay healthy! Its a great car, USE IT!"
and on the other is the angel
"Look after that car. Keep it special! Think of all that salt! What's the point in driving a 170mph car to work when someone else is usually in front of you. (Usually a Micra with a 'fish' sticker..usually on the best twisties..Sigh) The bottom line is cost per mile. You should be saving for your daughter's education.."
Today I listened to the devil
I probably end up on 100 miles a week with this internal struggle. Gas mileage isn't an issue - the Merc's thirstier!
I have to say taking the 911 only 1-2 times p/w means that you still get that tingle when you pick up the keys..
The merc is a good beater too- auto for those lazeee drives, leather, a/c. Quiet enough to liten to CD's. Quick enough to keep up with warm hatches. A bit different to the Eurominis. Thirsty but no depreciation. So do I really need a 911 too?...Aggh!
My problem is only going to get worse - next summer one of the 2CV's rejoins the stable - just don't tell the breadknife.

What a great opportunity to prevent all the easily preventable stuff that 2cv owners, by their nature, never bothered preventing! (Unless its Portuguese built, in which case it will probably be onto its 3rd set of sills by now..)
Grease those kingpins! Waxoyl that baby within an inch of its life! Are you going to fill the the bonnet hinge with mastic? Are you selling the red car?

Johnny, it is G reg so Portugese but totally clean/rust free now, hope to keep it that way.
With a seperate chassis which bit is the sill on the 2CV? I think it already been done but where would you waxoil Do you put the mastic inside the hinge? Grease king pins every 1000 miles?
Not sure re. selling Red, may store the new Blue for a few years.
