With electronics, especially older units, just removing/replacing connectors often times cleans poor contacts. I cant tell you how many times I've disassembled a computer that wasn't working, then had it work fine after reassembly with no new parts. Became the first thing to try. You may want to use some contact cleaner on your DME and sensor contacts. I have used Deoxit with some success, but never on DME or hall sensors. YMMV.
