Bell housing help
I'm assembling my new 87 turbo engine block and I'm going to be using a bell housing that I took from my old engine. My old engine was not the original block for the car. I had always thought it was an 86 turbo block but on disassembly I discovered it was an 86 924S block. After researching bell housings I discovered that the na and turbo ones are slightly different. I'm not sure about 924S bell housings. I also found that the casting numbers on the part were used for both turbo and na housings. So my question is, how can I tell for sure what bell housing I have? I think it's a turbo, or perhaps a 924S but I want to make sure I know what I'm installing so I don't run into issues. Where can I mic the part to verify a size difference?

What is the old disc diameter? 200mm or 240mm? or what flywheel is installed? I would go look at my inventory of bellhousings but I'm to lazy drinking beer in this NorCal heat.

The flywheel and clutch may have been wrong, so I hate to go by those for my new build. I'll check though.... I had starting troubles with my last engine I believe that had to do with the known interference issue our cars get (engine kick back/ early ignition on start up). I have the old non-shielded sensor bracket with a fully slotted bell housing, So it makes sense.... I was just looking for a point to point spot on the bell housing to take a measurement so I know for sure it's a turbo housing, like a dimension from the mounting face to the starter mounting face or something like that.

The flywheel has a "951" part number so I'm pretty sure it's a turbo, I bought the cup clutch kit that came off the old motor so I know it's for a turbo. The flywheel O.D. is roughly 11 inches checked with a tape measure. So I assume all the clutch components are proper. The bell housing is the only uncertainty I have. Im pretty sure it's a turbo but I don't know its origins. Surely there's an easy place to mic and tell??
