Default Group Buy For Big Reds?

I already emailed John D. and asked him about doing a group buy for big reds, and he did let me know that it will be ok to do.

This post is more or less a feeler to see whom would be interested in a group buy of big reds some time in January, or February.

As far as pricing goes, well this would be different than all the other group buys, for this one the best price I found for us was going through a supplier, and company asked if I collect the money, either through pay-pal, personal check, or how every people could get it to me, then I would send one check onto them. If this is something people are not ok with I understand, but so far this is the best I've seen on price....

We will be starting at a price of 1050 dollars for the kit that would consist of:
Big Red Calipers
Factory 993 Cross Drilled Rotor
All adaptors and hardware needed to go with the kit

If people have request for certain pads those can be accomidated also at discounted prices

I'm going to be jumping on this,
so if there are those out there thinking about Big Reds in the not so distant future, post here so I can get an idea....

Thanks.....

Sounds good to me if this is the best deal to be had. Does the price drop if the numbers of kits sold is lets say... 5, 10 ...etc...

uhmmmm Myswiss can you come up with a better deal???

I've been thinking about it for awhile, but it all depends on the price. At >$1K, I would not be in -- since I don't really need them. (BTW, I assume the price doesn't include additional components needed for older 944s.)

B*stard.
I in no way can afford them, but if the buy occurs in February, I'll try to find some way to purchase them. (Anyone need a kidney?)

Ian,
If you don't mind, can you shoot me your vendor off-line? I only ask, because I might be able to find a better deal.

I would be interested and I know of another party who might be as well. I have seen those kits go for 1250 or so. If that is the best price we can get I understand but I would like to see this go under 1K. I would have to wait until the second half of february as that is when my bonus comes in and I would have to get another set of wheels (wife will love that!)

The date i'm shooting for is Feb 23rd, its my birthday and big reds would be a nice gift to me....

I think we can get it down to sub 1k depending on the number of people I get a firm agreement from.

keep in mind that price is with out pads, just the calipers, rotors and the adaptors.....

Pads for Big Reds run somewhere around the $150-200 mark, don't they?

Scott,

the are all over the board, you can go down sub 100 dollars, but then there are some of the more expensive pads that go well above 200.....

Everyone needs to keep in mind that the price listed was the starting price, once I get an estimate of the number of people in on the buy then I'll be able to work that price down....

Also when I find out what pads people want to buy I can get a price for the kit with pads....

So far I have request for

The kit as show above
The kit with pads (no one has named a pad type yet)
Just the Calipers
Kit w/o adaptors.....

keep the variations comming and i'll get all the prices....

thanks

Ian - just a suggestion, there are loads of 911 guys who would like to do this to I bet. Might be nice if John D let us use the admin posts for this. I bet we would have a lot more buying power as a whole than just the 944 guys. Same supplier could probably get everything, this is pretty common for the 911s too.

Why run the 2 piece 993 rotors, why not the one piece 964 turbo rotors so no issues with adapters. Factory pads are in the $75-100 range depending on where you get them from. Lets see.
Pair of calipers $575-600
Rotors $200
Pads $100
Adapaters $150
Total $1025-1050

Where is the savings? I can get these prices all day long if I buy all pieces from sunset porsche besides the adapaters which one can get from paragon. I think your supplier needs to give a better price, no?

I think he said it was a starting price. If so then the price is about right to start. I would rather have the one piece rotor myself.

This is the price BEFORE the discount. This thread is to see how many people are actually interested so he can get a realistic price from the supplier.

"I would rather have the one piece rotor myself."

Ditto!

Why run the 2 piece 993 rotors,
So I can cut the unsprung weight in half.

Where is the savings? I can get these prices all day long
I kind of agree with you there. Big Reds are cheap and not to mention old technology.
Why not a group buy with Monobloc calipers instead of two piece?
