I use Pirelli Teofeo R, 235 front and 265 rear. I'm shortly upgrading to BBS E88 with 265/285.
I had the same issue with my car. I found that it had a pinched hard line for the rear brake line. Have you bleed the rear brakes yet?

Not that much, the car was buit during the wintermonths, apparently four months. On this car it was more producing than photographing. But anyhow here is it's quarter.

Tried to rotate the picture three times, but it didn't help. Just to confuse you, it's not a drain plug.

Yes, several times. There has passed approximately 6-7 ltr Castrol SRF through the system, not cheap.

Nice to see one squeezed in that space, which efr? I can't see if it's internal or external waste gate?

EFR 6758, with Turbosmart internal wastgate and blow off valve, managed by an eboost2.

it wasn't easy but I think it's space enough to fit a 7163. But then again I don't use balance shaft any more and had the base of that balance shaft housing grinded off.

When I put GT3 MKII 6 piston brakes on my 996 C2 I eventually replaced the C2 master cylinder with a GT3 master cylinder and GT3 brake booster in order to increase the brake force required at the pedal. Aka that gave me a better firm feel at the pedal suitable for Heel & Toe wheras the C2 Master Cylinder felt softer and more like a long travel street car pedal. There was no bias valve in that setup but there was ABS. So now I have to stand on the brake harder to slow the car down - this is not something that feels bad at the track, on the contrary it felt perfect.

As others have said more tyre/fresh tyres will help.

Great looking car by the way

Thank you for all kind & helpful answers.

I think I need to make an summary of my problems.

The car,

- cornerbalanced, thoroughly
- weight 1040 kg
- somewhere in the bollpark of 400 bhp
- GT3 996 Mk1 brakes and rotors
- 968 master brake cylinder, even had it changed to a new one
- no abs
- new Pirelli Trofeo R 235 & 265, maybe a bit to the narrow side
- ap brake bias adjuster

The pedal is very firm and does not travel far.

With my E46 M3, with Boxter S brakes and Pagid pads, I can brake from 200 to nill 80 (!) meters later than with the 944. And that with the exact same tyre setup, but with a car that weighs 400 kg more.

With my 964RS (European spec) I can break even ~30 meters later than with the M3. This car weighs 100 kg more an has 225 /265. It has Big reds and Pagid

I dont think the big issue is the tyre size for the scenario above, but I do think it will be better with wider tyres.

Today I will try to bypass the bias adjuster and test it on the track tomorrow.

Fingers crossed, hopefully it will help. I'll keep you posted.

Got it!

Bypassed the bias valve and that did it. Went out on the road, pressed the pedal and bang, I did almost hit the steering wheel with my forehead.

So a faulty brake bias valve.

Special thank's to Darryl H that conformed thet th configuration is working on a 944.

Thanks to all of you for helpful answers.

Tomorrow is testday and hopefully it will all work. I will report back later tomorrow, Swedish time.

@Mike, this project made me promise to never do it again. Had some god help and we did in four months. I bougth the car as on the pictures, a good friend of mupine build the car for racing in 2004. He won a series of races. But 2010 he sold the car and the new owner almost didn't used the car and parked it in a boat garage for couple of yers. Engine was built on a new block and massaged for big money - to 203 hp.

So there was no need for any updates on chassie or body but the engine - jeezus it was seriously slow.

A turboengine was located and bougth, but unfortunately it was in a very bad shape.

We made plans for the project,
- forged pistons from JE,
- Forged conrods
- steel sleved cylinders
- machined crak
- on off design camshaft
- mecanical lifters
- borg warner efr 6758 munted on the exhaust
- Turbosmart boost control
- S2 gearbox
- new exractor and exhaust, own design
- and more, much more.

Finally, I actually got married in New York

So today I did some testruns on the track. It was absolutely stunning. I could brake extremly late and it had stoppower beyond my wildest fantasies. I could even get my hands off the steering wheel in 200kph, brake hard and it did it in a straight line.

I'm so happy now.

Thank you all!

I'm glad it looks like you have solved the issue!!

edit: I've also got an S2 box on my turbo and can confirm it feels great on track
