Post your Modded 951 HWY MPG
Gang, I have spent a few hours tweaking my '86 951's fuel injection with the ad of the techedge wideband 02.
When I picked this car up in August it had a hard time getting more then 18 mpg.
Looks like my efforts have paid off. I've got the a/f's looking pretty good.
Today I drove 270 miles in 3 hours, 20 mins During that time I did my best to conserve as much fuel as possible and stay out of the boost. I filled up when I left point A and also filled up when I arrived at point B. Curse control was not used.
The result is 25.6 mpg.
Friday the car saw 280 unconservative miles. There was a lot of traffic and lost of chances to get in the boost. There was even a few cars who dared to step up to the plate.
The result 22.1 mpg.
There may still be a little more economy left on the table. I wouldn't surprise me if this car could hit the 30's, it may require my mother behind the wheel as she sets the cruse to 3 mph above the limit listens to the radio.

I get 400 miles on a full tank before the reserve light but that is cause I have not tuned it for bigger 52# injectors yet. I turned my FP down enough and it pulls clean but that is the best I can do being conservative. Probably, another 75-100mph left in it when tuned.

Wow, maybe I need to tweak it a little bit more. I'm currently shooting for a cruising a/f 14.7 maybe I should lean it out a little bit more.
I have a vacuum leak that I haven't been able to trace, any idea what a vaccum leak does to a map based system

My purely theoretical guess is that a vacuum leak wouldn't really cause any issues on a MAP system. You're missing some performance, but the A/F ratios shouldn't be affected... the air is measured at the intake manifold, and that's pretty accurate even if something's leaking before it gets there.
I was able to drive back home with no particular issues when my IC pipe popped off during a spirited back-road run
MPG wise, no clue - haven't had enough $$ to buy a full tank of gas lately.

I like to know how you guys have the discipline for the long drive for the mpg test and not have the urge for a good thrashing. The first time I would have a vette or a modded ricer wanting a go, my mpg test would go all to hell.
Another thing: if you still have the DME ( maybe with chips, however), and the O2 sensor connected, I don't know how you're able to tune leaner than stoichiometric. I always wondered about that. How does any piggy back system override the DME/O2 sensor combo's desire to keep it around stoichiometric?
