Interior restore cost on '88 Turbo S Silver Rose?
Howdy,
I'm putting out some feelers on restoring the plaid interior on my Silver Rose. I'd need to replace all interior fabric (front/rear seats) and swap out the vinyl door inserts too. I'm in the Seattle area and I'm being given a quote of $3500-$4000 for the work. That just seems really high considering what some people were saying when I bought the car.
What seems like a reasonable cost based on what people have paid?
Thanks in advance for your replies!

I've never priced that work before, but if it includes the materials I don't find it shocking. If that's just the labor it seems like a lot of money....

That doesn't seem to high, I would have thought closer to $5k.
I presume this includes removing all the existing plaid fabric from the door panels and seat covers front & back, making paterns from the old fabric, replacing any damaged vinyl panels, replacing any damaged foam, making new covers & refitting covers and door panels. I should imagine picking-out the old fabric and making new patterns/panels takes some time.
If you need a professional second opinion on the price try calling Rob Budd at Classic 9 on 313-628-1983.

Fellow Seattleite, I have to agree with the above. $4K isn't bad at all, and as with all things made by a craftsman or woman, you're paying for the quality of their work. Could you get it done for less? Maybe, sure. But doing it right the first time, and to a high standard befitting that special car, is what I'd be going for.

If you have low-rider cars in Seattle, see if you can't find the shop those guys use.
The kind of shop where the guy doing the work doesn't speak english...beautiful product for nice price.

I have two doors off my Silver -Rose that I am turning into a racecar, they are not perfect but with some attention \i think they could be saved.. unfortunately the rest of the interior was so trashed I tossed the seats / carpet right into the dumpster which is the main reason I bought the car, I couldn't hack up a good one.. I get some pics tonight if interested in the panels.. I had doors in my woods that I cut up to accept the "Nascar" style bars.

I will forever be thankful that I was able to have such a craftsman work on something that is mine forever to remind me of the talent
handed down from one generation to the next that will not happen with the youth spawned in this day.
