Default Lithium Battery Anyone?

Anyone using one?

If so pics and feedback, I'm intrigued.

There is a difference between Lithium and Lithium Phosphate (LiFePo4). Made myself one back in 2013 and it has worked perfectly

Lithium battery fires are bad. That's the type of battery that caused laptop fires and the delay of the Boeing 787 production. Like Raceboy said, make sure you get the right type.
For most of us, the typical 13 pound lightweight battery is light enough and much cheaper.
I'm running a BAB22-12 from Batteryspec.com It's the same dimensions as the Genesis PC680 but has more power and cost less.

Why would you want to use one?

Isn't it sort of obvious when you look at the photo?

On a racecar when you have spent x amount on lightening the car (gl/cf parts etc) then ~150 euros for 15kg weight saving is extremely cheap. Plus you can mount is in whatever position you want.

Have you all not seen the super capacitors with the lithium iron phosphate battery booster pack on you tube. Let me dig up some of the videos. The last video has the battery booster added to the capacitors.

Yes, and my friend who is PhD in our university specilises in capacitors, made a capacitor pack for his Ferrari 348 Spyder. Works well for starting battery but drains fast if you want to listen to radio or something.

You can get light weight gel batteries that can be mounted in any direction also.

I use one in my RX7. Total weight with titanium battery tray is around 5 pounds. Work great until you fully discharge it - in my experience once you do that, the lifespan is limited.

An option from the factory includes an RS style smaller lighter battery (used on the 968 Turbo RS)...p/n 964-611-173-70 (note updated p/n = 999-611-036-20).

Yes. I, and several fellow racers all use the Shorai (the largest one they sell) for several years. No issues.

But... we have disconnects that ensure there is no load load on the system when the car is off... something most street cars do not.
