On a single camshaft engine, LSA is a fixed value and cannot vary like on a multi-camshafts engine using variable cam timing.
It's either 112 or 116° or any other fixed angle value in between. That is important to know if the cam was specced for an 8:1 engine.
You're confused, Thom. What JME has identified is the lobe center for intake (112 deg. ATDC) and the lobe center for exhaust (116 deg. BTDC). Intake value is typically stated first, followed by exhaust value. These figures tell you the lobes are ground on a 114 degree lobe separation angle (LSA) and should be installed 2 degrees advanced.
Now perhaps the email from Milledge will make sense to you.
