Hi all
I'm trying to remove a cracked headlight lens.
It's a 1990 951 with an up/down adjuster by the gearstick.
The motor on the back of the lamp is still on the lens frame but wont allow me to squeeze past the mounting plate.
I've only found one reference online to getting the lens out on a car with a motor on the back:
http://www.porscherepair.us/porsche-...9-onwards.html
It says you need a special Porsche tool.
I don't have this tool.
Any suggestions?
I still don't completely understand what I've got to do.
Many thanks
Paul

Could you maybe show a photo of what you mean by up/down adjuster?
You just flip up the headlights, remove the black plastic trim around the glass headlight lens, and then remove the trim ring that holds the headlight lens to the frame with 3 screws.

Hi V2Rocket
Thanks for the reply, if only it was that easy... I've done hundreds like that.
I'm still searching the web...
Yep I'll post a pic when I next go to the car.Did you mean a pic of the small electric motor by the headlight or the scrolling button (like the dash light adjuster)?
Having a second/third read of the link, the Special Tool 9287 looks like a small socket pushed over the 'articulated piece' - No6 on the schematic. Might give that a try.
I've uploaded a couple of pics to be getting on with...

Not too many of us are going to be familiar with your head light setup.
That is an option for European cars, USA cars do not have the headlight servo function to adjust the beam when the rear of the car is loaded.
Wish we did, it is a very cool feature! (Government doesn't trust us to adjust our headlights!)
My guess is that it might be use a hollow tube to fit over the stem lock. There are little legs/detents that stick out from the collar and it seems that they have to be pushed towards the center to get it to pass thru the headlight mounting lug. Were you able to disconnect the headlight on the other lugs?
Can you post a picture of the motor stem with the collar/detent?

Hi PaulD 944S2
'stem lock' ...good word.
I didn't actually try to pop the stem locks themselves, I tried to take the whole frame out.
But. I think popping the locks may be the way to go. The parts diagram sort of shows the way.
Hopefully see the car after work today and have a go.. and pics
Thanks for the replies

Hi all
just checked.. first registered 02.1990. How many 951s in 1990?
Eventually got the lens out. Yay!
Two of the adjusting screws can be screwed out all the way - the third one looks like it's a press fit. Can anyone confirm this?
RHS headlight - drivers side in UK.
Took the top off for better access.
Bottom left screwed out of the adjusting motor.
Top right screwed out of the adjuster. Also has a 90degree tab release accessible from above/the back.
Top left is press fit. I managed to squeeze the adjusting tabs until the lens pulled forward.
I did slightly break the press fit adjuster.... but I haven't removed the others yet. Which I need to, to fit into the new(ish) lens.
Seen these on Ebay,

Hope the pics show what I'd done this evening.
