Default mysterious electrical plug

Hey folks - found a female connector under the hood against the firewall that's not plugged in to anything and I don't see any sign of the corresponding male connector.

Any idea what this is?

88 - 951

thanks,
Scot

that's a top dead center sensor that's never used...back in the day, a mechanic would plug it into an old sun machine....we cut the harness off at the sensor and throw the wire in the trash....vinnie

I thought it was strange that it was white.

Is the o2 sensor just 2 pin?

Funny I just pulled the motor on my car and have the harness from my friends car out. Both an 86 and 87 and they don't have that connector.

Also not in garage right now.

Edit: Wait was that not normally tied beside the exhaust test port? brain trying to remember........

Like the others have said, its the plug for the tdc sensor used by workshops. Normally that plug is attached to the lifting eye at the back end of the cam tower (which you do not have).

That is not a part of the main harness. It is standalone and just follows the engine down to the speed/reference sensor mount.

That makes more sense. I will have to look again.
