Congrats on the podium finish and great last run Rod, what an incredibly awesome car! Will be great to watch how you guys develop the car, I'm sure this is only the beginning of what we will see from your beast.

Did you see this interview with Murray Coote?
Facebook Post

According to him the billet SR24VET made about 880hp on a hub dyno at around 40psi of boost. Interesting to note that they had many similar issues concerning head gasket integrity as you guys do when turning the boost up on factory blocks, and it all went away with the billet block.

Rod, if you end up going with a billet block, I think you will be taking the 968 to a whole new stratosphere. Maybe even crack the 1000hp milestone? Your car would make Bob Norwood cower in fear

Congrats! I recognized a few names in there.. Tough competition! A huge result considering it's only your second year out with the car. I noticed the time from last year. I'm not sure if the course was changed at all or not but you've made massive improvements since then & I'm sure there's more to come. Seemed like you were at a somewhat of a power disadvantage too (?!) so again, great result.

Yea they probably have a little bit more power than us, and they have a big weight advantage. We are limited to about 25psi with our block( Darton sleeved 968) before the head starts to move, Even with 9/16th studs, and oil pressure doesn't like the boost either.

True, it's unfortunate that the rules only allow a weight of 20% less than factory. I was just checking out the factory weights and the lightest s13 has a 170kg weight advantage over the 968 CS.

Maybe you have to turn it into the RP924?

I am convinced the bore and chamber are just too big vs the head stud arrangement in this engine to withstand the boost...so much surface area x cylinder pressure = a ton of force pushing up against those poor head nuts.

Billet steel block will help your weight issue...

May as well make a billet head with more stud holes (6 per cylinder?) while you're at it..

In the regulations they can go down to 979kg, our limit is 1056, but unfortunately we had a few to many burgers during the design stage.

Looks like they were running 36psi through the event. Perhaps 40psi at the limit. 880hp on a hub dyno which would be just over 1000bhp. Plus a big weight advantage and many more years of development and testing. Very good to get that close.

A huge congratulations to Rod and the team. An absolute stunning final lap.

It also was an absolute pleasure finally putting a face to a name Rod. I think i missed Patrick by a few mins also.

When Bart pulled up and got out of the car, there was smiles of joy and a round of celebration of him absolutely smashing the previous times sitting around the 1.24 mark and pulling up in a 1.23.0.

So much potential!

It's looking good. I'll have to watch the vid this weekend.
All this talk of billet blocks and heads....... I'm in. Group buy from hell.

Amazing how much boost it takes some of those engines to do what they do.

Who's the other 944 I saw listed?

Patrick, your color scheme hasn't changed has it?

I know Rod's car but there is an actual 944 not a 968 at the event.
That's not you?
