Thanks for all the advise. You guys (and I'm assuming a few gals) are great. Tons of info in the forums. The 944 faq is great for us newbies. The first (and only) car I looked at had several listed problems. I just need to remember to print that thing out and take it with me.
I hope I can be patient but the ebay adds are like forbidden donuts to Homer Simpson - must resist and wait for a close car I can check out in person.
Hope to be among the cult of Porsche soon. Thanks.

Be patient - there seem to be quite a few 944s on the market right now. Better to wait a while and pay a little more for one in good shape than to buy one for less in "okay" shape. And don't forget the pre-purchase inspection.

Burning Brakes
I ran a brand new E46 M3 for about 3 months but could not help thinking of the fun times I used to have in my 'old' 951 that burned out on me a few years back....Since then I have had 2 911's, an E36 M3, S2, and then the brand new M3. So here I am, from cutting edge 2003 technology, back in a 15 yr old 951S...loving every minute of it.
2 months after getting it Ihave already done a good level of mods (which are now for sale to make way for a full Link 2 stand alone engine managment and a Vitesse turbo)......I though drugs were the things to keep clear of
If my better half got wise to the amount of cash I squander on my car she would flip, big time

Spending money on the car is not squandering; its important stuff. Spending money on new wallpaper or jewelery or panties; that's squandering............ Well, maybe not the panties.

Yes, although at times our cars give us problems, but we can fix them and even improve them!

My other half hates my Baby. I've owed Baby longer and quite frankly Baby is cheaper to maintain to boot. If push comes to shove, my other half knows where not to tread.
Down side these car are not cheap to maintain. Not only do I recommend pre-inspection; but, I suggest that you take someone with you who owns an example. Wherever you are located, i am sure that someone will be willing to spent an afternoon with you (if in South Florida I am there). I think that it would be hard to find a 951 that has not been slightly modified. Check the mods on the board before purchase.
Sorry buddy but life with your wife will be changed forever. I suggest setting the ground rules early
