Default Motor Mounts not aligning properly

So I changed my oil pan gasket and now I'm trying to get the motor mounts aligned but they are way off. The old ones were completely shot and were in two pieces when they came out so I bought new Meyle brand and this is the problem:

The right side mount is all bolted in and the cross member is also bolted in loosely. How do I get this aligned and installed? It's quite a bit off and I've tried lifting and prying the engine.

See this raised rubber part, it goes under the lip on the cross member. Do that on each side and they'll line up

Here's a pic I found on google images that shows how they should sit.

But how? I wondered about that when I first fitted the mounts to the crossmember but there was no way to get it under there so I figured it must not go under. And even with the full weight of the engine on the mounts, they won't slip under.

You should be able to pry it in as long as the weight of the motor is not sitting against it. A little bit of soap should help.
I slipped a new set in once to replace a bad set on my 86...that was back in 1994. Lift the engine slightly, first on one side then the other. Since then I always had the cross member out.
You kind of push down on the top edge of the mount where the little ridge is. Goes in kind of at a slight angle tipping the top in.

Ahh, it looks like the right side actually slipped into place at some point so I just have to get that left side in the picture in.

Thanks for the help, hopefully it doesn't take hours of prying and forcing!

Any tricks to getting it to sit properly?

put the top bolts in first before tightening the bottom stud.

Should be able to gently wiggle with weight lifted off.

Got it in! Thanks for your help.

A little tricky with taking the weight on, lifting it off, prying the mount with a big stick and hoping the mount holes for the bolts doesn't need a pre tap (some of those bolt thread holes are rough and should be chased before getting to this point.) But they went on ok and now hopefully it's all smooth sailing from this point on....

Thanks to all.
