Talking Savin to buy my first 951

Check it out. I know the dealership. I"m gonna go look at this car on Friday

I've got a 1987 924S right now. still gonna keep that. I just drove a 951 for the first time the other day...I"m a boost-addict now. so I'm movin up. Checkin it out to see what kinda financing deal I can work. What do ya think? worth it? BTW, 72k miles on the clock.

Very nice. Love the colour.
Don't look at the miles. Look at the service records. Make sure everything is in good condition.

what does it look like you'll end up paying. Try and get a history, and of course, like everyone says, belts and pumps. but you know that already. Looks like a nice find. Enjoy it if you get it!

Yeah. I'm gonna go look at it in person tomorrow. I don't care if it has a bad engine, because the first thing I'll do to it is pull the oil pan and put in some new bearings. I've been down that path once and it sucks. I'll probably cross-drill the crankshaft then too. Also, how is it to rebuild a turbo? I'm curious. which is easier? rebuilding or putting in something with a little more oompf? when does a turbo need rebuilding?. The main reason I"m interested in this one is the good condition of the exterior and the interior. if the transmission is good, I'm happy. I'm gonna attempt to talk the guy down to 9 grand. he's asking 11. Then I'm gonna see what kinda monthly payments I'll have, and go from there. Insurance for this car is oddly cheaper than my 924S (I don't know either, but that's what my company told me). I'm very interested, but we'll just wait and see what falls together. If not this one, more will come along later when I have the funds.

Take my advise, if the car doesn't run perfect do not buy it. I suspect that for 10K +- 1K that it will run excellent. I would take it easy on the car until it is paid off because it would not be very thrilling to have to dump a ton of cash into a car when you're still paying for it. But that's just my advice.

Buy it. I need to see at least one 951 driving around with me.

Definately haggle on the price, I went to that place with a friend to look for him and they offered my around 7K for a trade and my car is in better shape than that one. I'm sure they didn't pay near 11 or 9 for it.

Also, Porschephile924 where do you live in denver, I live in Capital Hill and I see a black 924 and a gray 924 in the hood often?

I live at Regis University on 50th and Lowell. I've seen the black 924S around. Mine, is red with tan interior, just like the 951 I'm lookin at. What should I look for when goin to check this thing out tomorrow? so far i've got the following list:

-Timing belt
-FOE service
-Turbo Maintinance
-Insurance (checked once, but gonna check again)
-Brakes
-H20 pump
-Rod/main bearings

And I'm gonna have them:

-CARFAX!!!
-set me up with a good deal
-pay for an inspection with MY tech (or at least let me take it to them, I pay)

Anything else I should add to the list? what's a good way to check the turbocharger on it? if it needs a Front of Engine service, how much should I deduct from the price? Thanks for all the help guys. You rock, and I hope to be joinin ya soon in the 951 club.

Porschephile, good luck, but I hate buying from dealers because they make such a big profit off the sale. I'd rather stick to a private seller.

i payed 9 for my car, the PO was asking 9500. the car is in perfect condition, interior looks NEW, exterior is amazing for origional, and the engine was as clean as i have ever seen. not a damn thing wrong with it. Don't pay 11, its to high, 9 is more like ie, depending on the condition.

Yeah, me too, but I can't go to the bank and get a loan for it. I already tried that. they "won't do loans for cars older than 1998" for whatever reason. I'm doin it at a dealer so I can get financing. but it's still a pretty big "if". as of tomorrow, I'm just goin to look at it to see if it's worth my time and or money.
