The highest available pump octane in most california stations, 91 octane, what a joke!! Sometimes i wish i was back east, say 94 + would be nice! Thanks !

Well, there are plenty of CA guys with guru chips and no problems with 91 octane. Maybe bad o2 sensor would be my guess.

I don't think the o2 sensor is used at full load.

You can also set the FQS switch to #4 for a 2-degree ignition retard (#0 is stock). Most likely this is a fuel problem though. A single mismatched low-flow injector would cause leanness in a single cylinder that won't show up at the O2-sensor. ALso a mis-calibrated AFM will do this as well. Some people have adjusted AFMs in order to pass emissions. The usual adjustment is to make the AFM send out a lower voltage, thus a leaner mixture. But this will cause lean mixtures across the board, leading to knocking & detonation.
