Default Looking for a Turbo in CA

Spend most of my time on the 993 section, but crave a 944 Turbo. Prefer an 89 or later. Missed out on a few earlier, have wifely approval for a purchase.

Thoughts on this and smog if I put a catalytic converter on it? Finding a cat in California is a mystery in itself! I don't mind adding a new cat for smog purposes.

Get an original, non modified CA car if you want an easy time passing smog.

Getting a new cat is as easy as ordering any other part online.
Google walker exhaust carb converters and input the model and year and the correct cat will pop up for you to buy and install, if you need one.

Smog testing a 944 series car isn't rocket science and anyone who would say otherwise is some combination of stubborn or plain stupid. The rules are pretty clear, despite their reputation...

If you don't have vacuum leaks, have a functional oxygen sensor and catalytic converter, and the engine appears fully stock and the DME is stock, you will pass no problem.

A 944 turbo will be a nice addition to your garage indeed! Do you have a 996tt as well?

That one has an m-tune so visually would not pass CA smog. The intake would have to be returned to stock so would ask the seller if he has all the stock parts to go with it.

As Spencer noted, getting a new catalytic converter is not a problem. If the car is running well, with a new cat, o2 and all stock looking engine / intake should not be a problem to pass.

I had some problems on one of mine but got it sorted after a fair bit of troubleshooting.

Still looking, blew it with the Colorado car. I didn't know how few and far between the S cars come up for sale.

lart951 is getting in some really nice cars very soon, perhaps you can buy one complete...

or even reconfigure it how you want it.
Lart's house is like a 944 "a la carte" menu...he can give you whatever you want.

The white one ('87) from Northern CA that Luis is getting is a fine example of one of these cars. If I had a place to put another one I'd have been all over it. Pains me to see that one get parted. I truly don't think it would be that difficult to get it to pass smog...
