Windshield replacement - advise
Hey folks,
I cracked my windshield and need to replace in the next few months before an HPDE at VIR. I have a 1989 951 with the antenna in the windshield. Part number is 944.541.011.12
I can source one through DC Auto and perhaps install myself (haven't ever done so - is it difficult?)
Else, wondering if there any of the typical auto glass businesses that anyone would recommend that can source the correct replacement. I'm in Raleigh, NC.

I had mine replaced by Safelite after I cracked it while installing hood struts. My car is an 89 too. The install was perfect and the antenna worked fine afterwards. The guy came to my workplace and did it in the parking lot in around 20 minutes if I remember correctly.
When you go to their website, you can enter the details of the car and it will prompt you about the built in antenna. I just did it again now for the hell of it and it came up with a quote of 464.95.
I don't think it's something you can DIY by just figuring it out as you go. It's pretty important to have it done exactly right.

I had a rock crack my windshield and my insurance approved a safelite install (CA has no fault, so no deductible) using their glass. I wanted OE, so I informed them that a Porsche windscreen is a stressed member in the chassis and it needed to be OE to meet Porsche spec. OE was approved and installed perfectly by Safelite.
