Has anyone re-packed the stock muffler?
The stock 951 muffler is a two-chamber straight-through perforated glasspack design.
Over time the packing tends to fail and get blown out the tail pipe and eventually the car's sound changes (louder, raspier, etc).
Wondering if anybody has gone to the trouble of re-packing the glass inside the muffler? Or might I be the first

I don't think there is any packing in the stock muffler.
I once had a piece of metal rattling around inside my muffler so I cut it open to take it out and there wasn't any stuffing, but I did find the source of the rattle which was the little cap on the end of an 02 sensor. Dunno how it got there since there was a cat in the way...

Upon further examination, we discover that the second chamber actually contains two layers. There is an inner perforated tube with another perforated layer surrounding it. There is no packing material between them. There was packing material around the outer as can be seen above.
The outer layer I would assume to be for heat insulation.
