Default 1989 Turbo VIN Range

I am trying to determine how close to end production my car is.
Is there a source reference. I assume all are KN1*****
Thanks

I think these VIN ranges were published in Peter Morgan's book on the 924/944/968 series.

Don't have a copy myself, though or I'd look it up for you. Perhaps someone else on here will.

on a 17 digit VIN the last 4 in common digits are KN15 and the last four digits #### are per each car
K=1989
N=Neckarsulm
1= 1 from the 951
5= Turbo
the ####will be the production/sequence/chassis number and unique to each car

Sure I understand that, what I wanted was the range of final digits to determine where in the sequence mine appears. For instance mine is KN151150, so how many were produced after that VIN number ?

Thanks for the link.
Wow over $650 on ebay Italy,
I checked on ebay USA and it's still a substantial $150 from a UK used bookseller. Arbitrage opportunity ?

I edited the link and you can find copies on Amazon UK for GBP 39.

Going by the table on pg 87, if I'm reading it right, KN151385 would be the last '89 turbo.

Thank you, implying that 1385 were built in model year 1989. With some other cars I own there is a registry of owners by VIN, does something similar exist in the Turbo S/Turbo community ?

Not really. There have been a couple of attempts over the years but I don't know of any consensus registry. The latest is Matt O.'s project: http://www.944turbo.com/ But it looks like he's had slow going in getting owners to register. I'm guilty of not signing on yet. Maybe this summer after I get the car painted and some glitzy pictures.

Thanks for the heads up.
Nice site.
I wish him well. Will also post when I have corrected the mistakes of the previous owner
