Picked this "HX35" up for $150, seller told me it was brothers who has since sold the truck it was for and forgot what the specs were. Hoping to find some more info about this turbo, and some insight on using it on a 951 motor.
First, some pics (yes my calipers are a POS, Mitutoyo digital ones in the mail):
So right off the bat, it's obvious that some grinding will need to happen to fit it but I was aware before I decided on a HX and I'm not bothered by that. Now the question is... what hotside is that, and is there any hope of it ever clearing the mount? The exhaust flanging and fabrication isn't really an issue right now, as it will all be custom regardless of what turbo goes on (yes..twin scroll ). The hotside reminds me of a h1c hotside, but has a longer "downpipe" snout before the v-band. The normal HX35 has a much different shape.
Now the wheel dimensions.
Compressor: 48 x 83mm , 8-blade billet
Turbine: 60 x 70mm
Any initial thoughts? I'm not trying to bite off more than I can chew, it's a long term build and I'm not cutting any corners.
My immediate concern would be the intake manifold interfering with the compressor housing, as the Holset is WAY bigger than the K26.
Right. I may whip up a spacer, I'll test-fit the head and manifold later today to see what I have to work with. I'm not going to run this turbo if the modifications are going to be extreme.

Nice! Contact Sid(blown944) he is the holset king. I remember Sid said an Hx35 with supporting mods can do close to the 400whp mark with good spool. Hx35/40 is on my to do list eventually, have a garrett 57trim keeping entertained for now.
