Default Vacuum Line Question

Hi guys, I have a mostly stock 86 turbo and I want to clean up the vacuum lines. I will be doing the venturi delete, and also deleting the vapor purge system. I have also deleted the a/c.

So my question is, do I still need the vacuum reservoir? Is it there to assist the brake booster, or to help all the stuff that I am removing?

Basically I want to remove all the stuff highlighted in yellow, and run the rest of the red lines individually from a vacuum manifold.



Also, what about the two vacuum lines that enter the firewall where the a/c and heater hoses go. I still want to have fully functional heating, but the a/c is being deleted. Do those two vacuum lines still need to be there? Do they need the vacuum reservoir, or can the be routed straight to a vacuum manifold?

I'm by no means the knowledge bank here. Perhaps someone will chime in here.

My understanding is that the vacuum canister is really used for reserve vacuum for operation of the HVAC items (heater valve As vacuum is used to hold it closed).

That's my understanding too. You need the reservoir and the check value to maintain vacuum to the heater control during boost.

Here are my notes from when I redid my vac lines:
Heater control
- Silicon line from multi-port vac manifold on intake to one-way valve (black side)
- Silicon line from one-way valve (blue side) to T connector
- Silicon line from T connector thru firewall to vacuum reservoir
- Silicon line from T connector to heater control port on firewall (top port)
- Silicon line from heater valve port on firewall (bottom port) to heater control valve

Thankyou Dare, that makes sense. I'll connect it up just like that and see how it goes. I'm assuming you don't have any of the heater control vac lines teeing into the brake booster hose like the stock set up? i.e. I can run one single length of hose from the intake manifold to the brake booster?

Yep. That's what I did. I have one of Laust Pedersen's vacuum manifolds, which gives me plenty of ports to run each line separately.

one other note - the lines running through the firewall will also go to the ECU, for the KLR.

Cheers Dare, Im getting one of his vac manifolds too, should come up great.

Xaerran, the klr vac line is the clear hose that runs through the firewall in the rubber harness boot.
