Mr2 power steering conversion
Anyone done this? I picked up a pump off of eBay. Wiring seems simple enough, but not sure about fittings.
Figured I'd get power steering hose from summit. I also see you can get an fittings that are power steering rated (1000 psi). Anyone know what I would need to connect to the factory ps rack? Is it easier to get some junk factory ps lines and salvage the bango/fittings and take to a shop to clamp onto new hose?
Also figure I'll make an aluminum bracket to hold the pump with my new tig welder.

I have been looking at the same as my car cannot keep the original pump (won't fit..)
But there are a lot of other options. If some-one sorts this out before me..

What other options are you looking at?

It's on all the time. I'll have a switch on the dash to turn in/off. Might look at a pot to see if I can adjust the amount of input. Other modules are more complicated and take speed as input but this is a race car so I don't need that

w.r.t the hoses/fittings.
looks like its pretty easy to go from the pump to -6an, use steel fittings, and then power steering hose.
what I'm missing is how to splice that into the factory fitting on our rack. I can grind off the fitting to re-purpose, but how can I securely attach it to the new -6an hose.
any thoughts?

Fairly certain it is M14x1.5. I had to pull my pump from the 968 yesterday and IIRC the banjo at the pump is the same as the banjos on the rack. I'll measure it when I get home and post an update.

think its an 12mm at the rack. rennbay sells replacment banjo bolts.
I can get 12mm to -6an steel bango fittings. if that fits at the rack, I could go an power steering hose directly to the pump. might be a good solution.

We sat a Holden (which could be from Nissan or Opel) inside the cabin. Not sure on all the fitting sizes but it wasn't expensive to do.

I placed my pump on the outside of the frame and behind where the light was on the passenger side. I kept all of the stainless steel lines that are around the rack as there is not very much room there. I modified the connection on the end of the stainless steel to an ansi fitting and ran that back to the pump. the return line is low pressure and I just used a hose clamp on that side.
My pump has 2 power lines to it. One wakes the unit up, the other is required to make it work.
I had pictures at one time but can't find them, the car is in paint right now repairing all of the flame damage from a while back.
