Default DME relay?

I have owned my car for about 15 years. About 2 years after I got it, it starting running rough/stumbling while driving it one day. Replaced the DME relay and it was fine for about 13 years. 2 years ago it did it again. New relay fixed it. Just happened a third time last week. I know the relays can be a problem, but why did my last one only last 2 years. I only drove the car 4-5,000 miles. Bad DME or could there be another reason it went bad so quickly?

Is there a reason the DME went so quickly? For example is the fuel pump going bad and drawing more power causing the DME to burn out?

Yes. I have 3. Buy one if you can. Fast. If it's the pump prime it will partially replace a three legged jumper as you will know when you turn the key of your pumps working without cranking.

so I purchased one of the above relays. I do not do long drives so for the last few months everything seemed fine but yesterday after driving the car on a hotter day it shut down again. It starts to miss fire, back fires once or twice, stumbles then stops running. If I let it sit until it cools down for an hour or so it will start and run again. any ideas? fuel pump? ignition coil?

When you crank it and it won't start, does the tach needle bounce a little like this?

Also, when it shuts down, does the DME feel hot?
