Default Secret spy photos of people installing stuff

Pics speak more than a thousand words, so ... Tommy's car was the first subject to this mod.

Guessing: the j-pipes we got are a bit different than the ones Danno used previously (Dan, if you read this, is it so, or did we just screw up??); thus it proved pretty impossible to make the CBV fit behind the coolant hose... and as you can see, the tube on the intercooler pipe is angled so that it's not going to line up if the CBV is in front of the coolant hose. Dayum!

That didn't really bother Olli, who was busy with the wiring

Looks messy but the car actually started on first try...

Group photo, from the left that's Tommy, myself and Sebastian, who's garage we were "borrowing" (not to mention his huge help with pretty much everything)

We ended up stealing that bent CBV hose from another 951... much easier now!

And there it is. Of course the hood didn't want to close properly as the huge-*** filter was blocking it somewhat, but I'm sure it will be fixed with minor tweaks. Right now there's a ghetto solution for it but it's ugly so I didn't take a picture of it

The car started right up, idled decently (slight hunting but that could well be just a sticking ISV) and didn't have much problems rolling out of the garage by it's own. After some driving it was apparent that there is something wrong, as it's stumbling when pressing/releasing the throttle abruptly. Tommy is going to check the TPS, and we'll also see what can be done by tuning the AFMlink.

I hope my car is next up to receive the "treatment", heheh

This stumbling may be caused by the factory-programmed delay (for the old AFM) not working with the faster reacting MAP sensor, as Danno described recently. Other than that, how does it drive?

Nice photos...

Then how come some people seem to manage to get their MAPs running without stumble issues? Or are they just faking it??

It drives ... loud ... sweet sound of PSSSSSHHHT when shifting gears, also the spool up is pretty damn noticeable. Tommy didn't push it, so no comments on MY GOD THIS IS FAST experiences or anything. Need to get it on dyno first to verify there aren't any overly lean spots and such, and also work out that transition stumble stuff. So far I'd say it seems like a good modification, provided we can work out the drivability issues.

Spy photos don't mean a thing unless you post them along with some bleeding knuckles.............

Cheers

MAP kit installation was more or less guite easy thing to do. Link box wiring was simple to add and it didn't take too much time. We had quite lot difficulties with new J-pipe. Pipes we have are not the same as Danno usually sell with his kits. We didn't managed to get everything connected with the hoses inclued with kit. I found later at night that Danno had sent me a e-mail where he told about this possibility. Luckily Sebastians place is loaded with Porsches (as well as Sebastians dad's nice 1950 Buick Dynaflow project), so we just took necessary hose from one of his 951's. Hard to tell what are the power figures. The weather was typical Finnish October weather, so roads were wet. Also Tommy & Sebastian just made major overhaul (belts etc), so Tommy didn't want to "step-on-it" too hard ! At least the sounds are very impressive !

I'm glad you guys finally got your stuff. I've been suffering with that stumble too. There are things you can do to improve the response, but I think what we really need is a MAP specific chip.

Once it comes up past 3000RPM it really starts moving. Just be careful on those wet roads Sami! Our Alberta fall is very friendly to turbo cars. The temp is hanging around the 12°C mark during the day and the sun is shining on the pavement keeping the road dry and warm.

yup, it was great to finally have the kit, though it took a while..
Thanks Danno.
Like the guys said, it was not a plug and play, but we managed.
Car feels a bit strange, especially off idle.
It is a bit difficult to drive it smoothly, it feels quite "sharp",
but the coming weekend Olli and me, we will use our Link Tuning Module,
so hopefully it will become much better.
And we have to fix the problem with the J-pipes wrong position. The cone filter does not fit under the hood properly.

But you will be hearing about us, the famous Finns..
