Big red rear brakes? Anyone know the recipe?
So I have 993 TT big reds and 965 front rotors on M030 front suspension. I currently have ABS car with 5/33 brake boas but the standard late turbo/S2 rear brake setup.
My question is this Im interested in the look of the 993TT big red rear calipers and rotors as well. From what I can see they might have the same size or around the same size pistons installed as the earlier brembo caliper there just bigger bodies and a slightly larger rotor in diameter and pad size?
Can anyone confirm there personal experience with 993 TT big red rear calipers, pads and rotors on the rear of a 944/968? Im looking for compatibility fit and functionality vs. looks. thanks Rennlisters

I was reading Cobalts thread over on the 964 side and he filled me in on the ups and downs of 993 TT vs 993 RS rear calipers sounds like I will lose ebrake without special mods and rear braking could get very dicey with that much force. It's hard to say if the bigger pistons and pads of the RS but on the same rotor will be a good thing?
I don't want to install a custom bias valve so 5/18 or 5/33 is this all that's avail?
I can always play with compounds but I guess in the end this will take some trial and error has anyone with big reds or black in front ever put big reds or blacks on back?

Wow those big red rears look great also your attention to detail on your build is looking excellent congrats on your work its getting close huh?
So those are the bigger bodied 993 TT rear calipers with matching 993 TT rear 322mm x 28mm rotor and those calipers while bigger have just 2 x 28mm pistons in them?
Pad size is the same as the medium blacks found in the front of 928S4 & 951S & m030 968 right?
Stock 968/944 E-brake shoes work fine in there?
thanks for the tips as usual

The 993TT rear calipers have small 28mm pistons. Lockup should not be a problem. I have the 993TT front calipers as well. If there is a problem, I'll switch to junk pads on the rears to compensate.

So gene just so were clear on this thread for me and future wrenches getting this info you have installed 993 TT rear calipers and 993 TT rear rotors and pads without a hickup its a direct bolt on and ebrake works and offset or track width is not changed? Thanks again

993TT brakes
Early offset drive flanges, minor trimming of the caliper bolt surfaces, stock e-brake shoes, 322x28 rotors, rear 993TT calipers (28mm pistons)...fairly easy, but wheels will need spacers/long studs or use early offset wheels. The 968 trailing arms WILL NOT WORK. Porsche changed the bearing retainer in 1993 from a clip to two small plates which interfere with the early drive flanges. I used 1986 951 trailing arms and had them machined to accept the ABS sensors.
Overkill? Probably.
